In recent years, RPS has been growing rapidly and in order to maintain this and safeguard our prosperous future, this year we will be moving our pallet HQ!
The exciting relocation will take us from our current three-acre site in Maltby, near Middlesbrough to a brand new five-acre site in Eaglescliffe.
A new streamlined layout will combine great quality roadways and new storage areas with a refined flow of work to improve efficiencies.
In the next couple of years, we plan to increase our monthly dispatch total to 50,000 units, almost doubling our current capacity.
The move will not only give us more space but will create the potential for 20 new jobs, including those we have already recruited including four new warehouse operatives, an extra logistics co-ordinator and an office junior.
We’re also thrilled to be investing in various new pieces of machinery including a wood shredder. This key piece of equipment will enable us to bring everything in house and allow us to work towards reducing scrap pallet disposal charges. We’ll be able to offer a full service, from collecting pallets for reuse to shredding wood packaging waste for an all-round service for used wooden pallets.
As you’ll know, we are advocates for reuse over recycling and this new equipment will allow us to collect more pallets, segregate those that are suitable for reuse and shred the remainder for recycling and energy recovery. This stage of the process has previously bypassed our yard and the pallets were diverted directly to wood recycling companies, so bringing them to the RPS HQ will mean we can out-sort more pallets for reuse.
Due to the rising volume of clientele in the construction industry, we have increased our vehicle operator’s licence so we now have the capability to add to our fleet as we grow our national collection service. Adding used pallet collections from the construction industry to our increasing retail and manufacturing customers, watch this space to find out more about our four-wheeled team members!
It’s set to be an exciting year here at RPS, the biggest in our company’s history, and we can’t wait to see what it brings!
