We are all extremely excited to announce that RPS is a finalist in the SME National Business Awards 2021.

The announcement was recently published and RPS has been selected as a finalist in the Business of the Year category.

The awards celebrate business achievement over the last year and how businesses have overcome adversity to be recognised by these prestigious awards. The Business of the Year award, for companies with under 50 employees, will be awarded to a company that has shown outstanding initiative, boldness and imagination, including leading management practices. The success finalists are expected to demonstrate sustainable growth combined with commercial success over the last year which is exceptional for the size of the business.

RPS was able to demonstrate these attributes, including a 19.1% growth in turnover and appointing five new full time employees during 2020. A massive achievement was the move to our £3M operational headquarters in Eaglescliffe, Teesside, where we commissioned our state-of-the-art wood shredder, expanding our service offering in the pallet industry.

The RPS Pallet Academy, a training and development programme tailored to individual employees, has helped the business identify clear career paths for our members of staff whilst helping to rebrand pallet management as a professional vocation.

During the year, RPS became the first pallet company to become a member of the Industrial Packaging Association (IPA). The organisation allows us to be influential in decision-making around packaging use and means we’re part of a group that advises the Government on packaging legislation and sustainability.

Even during a pandemic, 2020 was a groundbreaking year for RPS and at the time, one of the most successful in our history. It’s fantastic to be recognised by this award as it demonstrates our hard work, a record-breaking year and above all our commitment to our employees and customers.

The award ceremony will take place at Wembley Stadium, London on the 3rd December. We have our tickets and we’re looking forward to making our way down to London for what is expected to be an exciting event.
