It’s been a while since we’ve written an update so it’s about time we told you what we’ve been up to. RPS has had an extremely busy start to the year but the challenges have been very welcome and have propelled the business forward.
To kick off, in January RPS won the NEPIC Industrial Environmental Award 2014, sponsored by BOC, and in March we were shortlisted for the North East Business Awards Environmental Award too. Awards aside, there has been some great progress with the new contracts we’re currently working on.
RPS has worked closely with PD Ports over the last 18 months but recently we started to collect empty plastic wine liners from their site in order for them to be responsibly recycled. This bespoke recycling service means PD Ports no longer need to fill their skips with bulky packaging waste and pay large sums of money for disposal. The RPS service eliminates the extra skip charges, finds a suitable recycling outlet and moves the waste to a more preferable option of the waste hierarchy.
In 2014 RPS will work with Cummins Darlington Engine Plant (DEP) to implement a UK pallet collection for reuse service. The products manufactured at DEP go out to customers around the UK. RPS will collect the empty pallets from the customers, bring the pallets to their Maltby depot to sort, inspect and prepare for reuse by the DEP site.
RPS has established a site collection service and pallet supply service to its customer Sun Chemicals. The business has four sites that RPS collect empty used pallets for reuse or recycling. RPS also deliver pallets to two of the sites near Manchester.
