We’re delighted to announce the success of the 19th annual Stokesley Charity Bike Ride, which raised an astounding grand total of £10,055.79 for a UK-based blood cancer charity.

This year a phenomenal 346 cyclists took on the 30-mile Stokesley Charity Bike Ride, the second highest number of riders to take part in the annual event since it started back in 1998. The riders assembled in Stokesley town centre on the 8th of May 2016 to raise money for this year’s chosen charity, Bloodwise, in the memory of regular rider Jez Glennon’s mother, who sadly passed away in 2015 after battling Leukaemia.

We were honoured to have the opportunity to sponsor this brilliant day for the third year in a row, raising money for a great cause and having a thoroughly enjoyable time along the way.
To celebrate the cyclists’ fantastic efforts, a presentation evening was held on Friday 6th January at The Mill in Stokesley.

Several cyclists and event organisers attended the event to present the cheque to representatives, Heather and Ken Fradley, from Bloodwise.
Paul Mackintosh, the main event organiser, planned the very first race and has continued to do a fantastic job in organising the community event year on year. Overwhelmed by the amount of money raised, he said: “We have once again exceeded £10,000 which is a great accolade for the success of our work to raise money for local and worthy charities.”
Each year the cyclists taking part choose a different charity to support. Next year, cyclists will raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in support of a much-loved member of the community, Jack Iveson, who is currently receiving treatment for cancer.

We are proud to continue sponsorship of such an influential community event, and will be supporting the bike ride in its 20th year to raise even more money in 2017.
