On Saturday 17th November RPS was delighted to sponsor Northallerton Town FC in a top of the league clash (Ebac Northern League Division Two) with Sunderland based Ryhope CW. With both clubs battling for top spot the game promised to be a full blooded encounter.
Players from Northallerton and Ryhope battle for the top spot.
We certainly were not disappointed as both sides battled not only each other but also the heavy pitch – how often do you see players covered in mud these days! The contest ebbed and flowed with the game eventually ending all square at 2-2. The result left Ryhope in pole position with Northallerton Town sitting just five points behind. It was a proper game of football contested by committed players (another rarity) on a cold late autumnal day.Our hosts really made their guests feel welcome by serving a superb home cooked pre-match lunch, with wine, followed by the obligatory mugs of hot tea and coffee to keep out the cold. The club’s hospitality was excellent throughout the afternoon and a testament to their commitment to engage with local businesses. In our view they’ll have no problem. So many thanks to Northallerton Town for looking after us and we’ll certainly be back later in the season to hopefully help celebrate their promotion to the first division.
