We’re proud to say there were no nasty surprises for us this Halloween. On Monday 31st October we passed our annual ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 audits. You may remember a similar report from last year’s audits, and we’re very pleased to have maintained our excellent safety standards through 2016.

The audits ensure we operate according to national and international health, safety and environmental standards, which drive organisations to reduce their impact on the environment and community.

This year we managed to impress yet another auditor with our commitment to safety and sustainability. Tom Graham was very commendable towards us and judged our system as well managed and under control.

Going forward, our aim is to ensure RPS meets the latest standard amendments. The changes implemented in the new ISO 14001: 2015 standard encourages businesses to engage more with their workforce on environmental matters, and focuses much more on the actions of managing directors in achieving their company’s environmental targets.

The new standard also looks into the environmental impact of a business’ supply chain and the objectives that can be set to reduce its impact and improve procedures.

As a conscientious and environmentally aware organisation, we do not expect to struggle to meet these new standards. We have already begun incorporating these changes into our current health, safety and environmental management systems, and are aiming to become accredited with the updated standard by mid-2017.
