Reducing the cost of construction projects

If you work in the construction industry you will know there are costs associated with disposing of used pallets. This can be expensive and take up a lot of your valuable time to manage.

From conversations with our customers, we know that managing and even reducing the cost of building projects is high on the agenda. Site wastes, including used wooden pallets, are often collected in skips, but what firms might not realise is that these skips could eat into project budgets quite considerably.

With varying skip charges across the UK, the national average skip exchange costs £230! This means disposal costs can quickly escalate given the number of skip exchanges required per project.

Pallets come in all shapes and sizes and don’t fit well in skips, which means there can be a lot of lost space when transporting. This ultimately leads to more skips being needed as fewer pallets can be loaded. This is why RPS believes our pallet collection service can help to reduce wasted space and more importantly reduce disposal costs.

RPS doesn’t use skips to collect used pallets. Using a vehicle rather than a skip, we make sure there is no wasted space during transportation, therefore the collection frequency is reduced. One vehicle can load up to 200 pallets, which equates to four or possibly five skip exchanges. Regarding costs, one collection charge versus five skip exchange charges certainly goes a long way to helping reduce disposal costs.

In addition to reducing waste costs, we also help firms engage with the circular economy, with no further effort required. RPS proudly sort all pallets collected to identify and return them back to original suppliers for reuse. This creates a sustainable, circular economy model for construction waste.
