Following 19 successful years, the annual Stokesley Charity Bike Ride returned for its 20th year on Sunday 14th May.
We were honoured to once again sponsor the fantastic event for the fourth year in a row.
This year 330 riders took on the 30 mile Stokesley Charity Bike Ride in order to raise money for this year’s chosen charity, Make-A-Wish Foundation, in support of a much-loved member of the community, Jack Iveson, who has received treatment locally for cancer.
Make-A-Wish is a UK-based charity, which grants magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. Whether it’s starring in their own films, walking with dinosaurs, going on an amazing holiday or meeting a celebrity hero, the organisation goes above and beyond to help very special children.
Commemorative cycle jerseys were made to mark the occasion and it’s safe to say they proved to be very popular as 50 riders purchased the jerseys, prior to the race, and wore them with pride on the day.
The course saw the riders take a challenging, but beautiful, ride around picturesque Stokesley, including the infamous Clay Bank, which we are glad to report everyone managed to cycle up!
The Dog & Gun in Potto was once again a welcoming pit-stop for the tired riders, who refuelled with refreshments.
All in all, it was a fantastic and a special day. Everyone had a marvellous time and we’re proud to have been a part of the event.
The total for the charity ride this year has already exceeded £6,000! Which is brilliant but more money is due in and with the donation cut-off date being mid-Summer, the total is certainly set to rise.
It was a pleasure to be involved and we can’t wait until next year’s bike ride!
