As part of our ISO accreditations, we are constantly looking for ways to further improve not only our services, but our operations too.
We have an ongoing obligation to reduce our impact on the environment and we’re dedicated to achieving this. We have invested in modern equipment for the RPS HQ, from energy-efficient lighting to installing new machinery and the latest technologies.
In the last 12 months, we’ve already reduced the amount of paper we use, decreased FLT distances and travel times (and in turn fuel consumption) and enhanced handling efficiencies by regularly replacing handsaw blades.
Whether it’s onsite or within our supply chain, we look at the company as a whole to find ways to improve efficiency. Our pallet collection vehicles travel fewer miles and we have worked with suppliers to combine orders to cut down on the volume of deliveries we receive.
We’ve also established business improvement targets for each department. The individual teams will analyse how the departments perform and interact with one another. For example, improving supply efficiencies of consumables between departments will help us to identify improvements between the operating teams.
Additionally, we have set ourselves a 2021 ambition to achieve committed efficiency milestones. Watch this space to see what we’re doing and how we will achieve this!
