What a year we’ve had here at RPS – 2019 has been full of exciting changes and our upcoming move to our pallet HQ. Let’s take a look back at the last 12 months and our most memorable moments…
As we genuinely care about our fantastic team and super customers, we ensure we undertake regular health and safety training. In February we announced that five of our employees had received their first aid certifications, which covered the basics of emergency care, and we invested in improved personal protective equipment.
In April we announced our big news – following rapid growth and to maintain and safeguard a prosperous future we decided to move to a new headquarters. The relocation has taken us from our three-acre site in Maltby, Middlesbrough, to a new five-acre site in Eaglescliffe. With plans to double our monthly dispatch total to 50,000 units and create new job opportunities in the Tees Valley, we are thrilled about the next journey for RPS!
To boost our services even further, along with the new site, we invested in state-of-the-art machinery - a high performance shredder that will make light work of recycling wood. Enabling our team to become more efficient the Untha QR1700 shredder is robust and capable of handling up to 100 tonnes of pallet wood waste every week! This machine will certainly have an incredible impact on our business and we’re looking forward to working with it in 2020 and the years to come.
For the sixth consecutive year we have sponsored the Stokesley Charity Ride, which has raised over £148,000 for local charities and causes since its launch in 1998. The ride, which took place in May, was very challenging but the participants all successfully completed the 30 mile bike ride and raised over £4,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
We had a successful ISO audit and our accreditations were upgraded to the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards. These audits ensure we are operating according to international health, safety and environmental standards and we’re thrilled to have once again passed with flying colours.
August saw us celebrate the company’s 17th birthday. We can’t quite believe it’s been 17 years since RPS was established but what an amazing 17 years it has been. We commemorated the anniversary with the team and said a special thank you for all their hard work over the years.
We were thrilled to welcome the Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen to our new HQ to discuss our future plans and investment in October. As part of the visit, Ben was given a tour of the site and he met a number of staff members, including Alaister Jackson, our Logistics Co-ordinator, and Dave Large, part of the Warehouse team.
2019 has been a busy year for the team but we’re geared up and ready to achieve all of our goals in 2020!
