On September 10th Owen Hines and Gary Hudson travelled to NEC at Birmingham to get ready for RPS’s first appearance at the Recycling Waste Management Exhibition. After building the stand and setting up literature and giveaways, they were ready. For the next three days, with the help from colleagues Jackie Wade and Tim Hutchinson, RPS presented its services to the waste management world.
Many companies see their packaging items as scrap; once used it should be thrown away. Transit packaging assets are very much re-useable items and, where possible, should be recovered and reused. At the RWM Exhibition, RPS demonstrated its services to various potential clients enabling them to understand the benefits of reducing waste to landfill, packaging costs and packaging compliance tax.
Owen Hines said: “RPS exhibited for the first time at this year’s RWM Exhibition and in general we thought that the exhibition was very well organised and worthwhile. The amount of visitors to both the exhibition and more importantly our stand was exceptional and as a company RPS are considering booking again next year.”
Gary Hudson and Tim Hutchinson added that, “the RWM Exhibition provided an excellent platform to enable RPS to extol the commercial and environmental benefits available through pallet recovery,” and, “as first time exhibitors to RWM we were genuinely impressed with the number of enquiries and visitors.”
An unexpected success of the exhibition was the RPS giveaways – the Grow Your Own Herb Garden packs. Word travelled fast throughout the exhibition halls for these packs, which allowed our visitors to grow their own coriander, chives and parsley. Chinese whispers meant that some visitors believed the packs would grow into a 20 ft square, fully planted gardens. Although they grow well, they may not grown to quite that size.
