Happy birthday to us!

It is RPS’ 17th birthday, and to celebrate, we thought we would look back at the past 12 months. It has been a year full of excitement and good news for us, including a new home!

Sustainability and safety

Our endeavours for improvement to efficiency and sustainability have been continuous over the last year. We have reduced paper usage, our travel distances and FLT usage over the last year.

We also improved our safety standards in November 2018. Our Site Operatives renewed their forklift truck licences to the RTITB standards. These are industry leading training standards which are designed to change behavior and make measurable improvements to efficiency, risk and safety.

In February this year, five of our staff members received first aid certificates, which cover the basics of emergency care. While our accident record is low, we believe it is crucial to be prepared and the safety of our staff is paramount. We invested in new PPE (personal protective equipment) and for those who work in the FIBC workshop, mask fitting training was provided to ensure that the most valuable use of the PPE is achieved.

Another celebration for us was in July when our ISO health, safety and environmental accreditations were upgraded after a recent audit. The audits are carried out to ensure that we are operating according to international health, safety and environmental standards. By passing, our efforts clearly demonstrate that everything we do is supported by operating to the requirements of the standards. We pride ourselves on providing the highest level of service and these accomplishments highlight our commitment.

Charity and sponsorship

At RPS we are proud to support a number of great causes. In September 2018, our Managing Director, Gary, took on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of OSCAR’S Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity which supports patients and their immediate families who are affected. The week-long expedition raised over £12,000 for the charity, well done Gary!

We sponsored the Stokesley Charity Bike Ride again in May for the sixth consecutive year. The ride saw hundreds of cyclists take part in the 30-mile journey and raised over £4,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. A great day was had by all and we’re already looking forward to the 2020 event.

RPS has supported Stokesley Hockey Club for a number of years and their success has been a fantastic achievement this last year. Adding new members to the squad, the ever popular club has created a new team for junior players. They all just keep going from strength to strength.

New home

In April, we announced that Pallet HQ will be moving from our current site in Maltby to a new, five-acre site in Eaglescliffe. We are very excited about the move as it means we are able to invest in new machinery which will expand our services and increase efficiencies. The building work is well underway and we will keep you updated with the progress.

To sum up, we have had a lot to celebrate and as we start the next year of business, we’re all looking forward to what the future holds.
