The future of sustainability

Latest News May 15, 2018 4:50 pm

As a population, we are becoming ever more socially aware of environmental issues and this is evidenced by the rise of sustainability in the media.

Sustainability transcends many industries, including automotive, retail, manufacturing and even domestic consumables, and while the concept of sustainability has always been around, the consequences of unsustainable behaviour are being acknowledged and have risen to the top of the agenda for MPs.

Programmes such as The Blue Planet have catapulted the effect of plastic waste on marine life to the forefront of our minds, and we’re seeing a shift in trends now across many industries as businesses make changes to the way they operate in order to address these issues.

The Circular Economy Package, which was formerly agreed by European Parliament in April, will encompass targets on how to handle and process packaging waste, including wooden packaging such as used pallets.

On 22nd and 23rd May, edie Live takes place at the NEC in Birmingham. Driving the ‘Mission Possible’ campaign forward, the event will focus on various waste streams and sustainable concepts.

Speakers will highlight the actions that can be taken to prevent raw material depletion, so we can utilise these resources for as long as possible.

Free to attend, edie Live is the UK’s only event designed to meet the needs of sustainability, energy and resource professionals. For more information or to book your place, see the edie Live website.

Here at RPS, we have extensive knowledge and experience in the supply and collection of wooden pallets across the UK, helping to improve resource efficiencies and promote sustainability. For more information, see www.rpsltd.com, call 01642 465556 or tweet us @RPS_Limited.
