RPS BS ISO 14001 Audit Success

Accreditation,Legislation August 3, 2012 10:48 am

RPS have recently passed their annual audit to maintain their British Standard ISO 14001 : 2004 accreditation. The audit, conducted at the RPS Ripon depot, was a great success and demonstrates RPSs objective to reduce their overall impact on the environment whilst also continuing the ethos of reduce, reuse and recycle where ever possible.

Over the last 12 months RPS has reduced their impact through a reduction in the use of electrical lighting, providing employees with a cup for life rather than using disposable paper cup, and reducing general waste with the introduction of mixed recycling, sending timber to a local biomass energy plant and feeding our organic waste to the worms in the RPS wormery. This in turn means RPS generate less than 2% of waste to landfill.

Thomas Hudson, RPSs Environmental Manager, said “A very big thank you to all involved to keep our ISO 14001 accreditation in place for another year. It is really encouraging to retain the environmental compliance, especially with the hard work and determination of the RPS team to reduce our company’s environmental impact.”

Over the next month RPS intend to achieve OHSAS 18001 : 2007 to demonstrate their compliance to operational health and safety. Health and safety is a very important part of the RPS operations, and OHSAS 18001 accreditation will consolidate all the hard work put in by team over the last 10 years.
